How It Works?

Book Look is a mobile application, available for both iOS and Android users that aims to help college-aged students, who are looking to save money on used textbook purchases and make money on previously used textbooks.

This app will serve as a platform for sellers to list textbooks and buyers to

purchase them. The app users will be prompted to create an account

before they are able to buy or sell an item, which will also require them to enter a form of payment, which is safely secured. After an account is created sellers are prompted to answer several questions to ensure the buyer knows, in detail, exactly what they are purchasing.

When a buyer finds a book they are interested in, they will click "BUY" which automatically sends the seller a prepaid, pre-addressed shipping label. The seller then prints the label, tapes it to the box and places it in the mailbox for USPS to pick-up and then deliver. Once USPS notifies us that they have received the item and begins tracking, we provide that to the buyer. Once USPS shows that the package has been delivered to its destination, the buyer is asked to look over the item to ensure it matches the description and "ACCEPT" that it has been delivered. At that point, the buyer will be charged and the funds will be released to the seller. The seller may either direct deposit earnings into their bank account or keep it on their account to use for future purchases.

Social Impact

After careful review and research, it has become apparent to us that there are issues we are able to have a much greater impact on residing in our own backyards. Logos Academy is an urban, Kingdom school grounded in the love of Christ, educates for excellence, offers opportunity, and cultivates hope in our community. Donors fund 80% of the budget required for student scholarships to attend the Academy.

Recently, Messiah Colleges’ president, Kim Phipps has been in communication with Logos CEO Aaron Anderson, in which they are in the process of finding a way for Logos graduating students to afford to further their schooling at a Christian college such as Messiah. However, Logos must find a way to help these kids afford college, as many of their families do not have the means to send them on to receive higher education. Logos students are highly qualified, receiving the highest SAT scored in two categories across two counties. They deserve to attend quality schools, but cost serves as a major barrier to their entry.

Our goal is to give two students the opportunity to attend Messiah College by giving away two $10,000 scholarships each year. Doing so will greatly help alleviate some of the financial burdens and obligations Logos Academy faces trying to make it possible to help these students find the means necessary to rise above the cycle of poverty by receiving college educations.
